Standard, Miniature, or Tiny? All the Sizes Of A Bernedoodle

Close up of a Bernedoodle.

Bernedoodle is a unique dog breed as they are a cross between the Poodle and the Bernese mountain dog. They were inspired by the "doodle" fad that spread over the world following the appearance of Labradoodle in the 1990s. They are a tough breed to care for because of their mixed heritage. There are three types of Bernedoodles based on varying sizes: standard, miniature, and tiny. Continue reading to learn how they differ in coat, temperament, and weight.

Standard Bernedoodle

Standard Bernedoodle is a cross between a Bernese mountain dog and a Standard Poodle. They are the largest breed and have a loveable, loyal, and goofy temperament. Standard Bernedoodles have the most balanced personality compared to other sizes.

A full-size Bernedoodle weighs 70 to 90 pounds and is 23 to 29 inches in length. They can live for twelve to sixteen years but have a shorter lifespan than the other sizes. You can buy a standard Bernedoodle for $2000 to $5000.

Miniature Bernedoodle

A miniature Bernedoodle is a cross of a Bernese mountain dog and a Miniature Poodle. They are smaller than standard Bernedoodles and bigger than the tiny ones. Compared to the standard Bernedoodles, miniature Bernedoodles have a greater tendency to bark! Even though their small size stresses them out, they have a similar temperament to standard Bernedoodles.

Miniature Bernedoodles are also very energetic. They love to run and play around. A fully-grown miniature Bernedoodle weighs 24 to 49 pounds and is 18 to 22 inches in length. They have an average lifespan of twelve to eighteen years. They are the healthiest breed among all three sizes and, thus, have the longest lifespan.

The reason that smaller breeds tend to outlive larger Bernedoodles is that they have a faster metabolism. Therefore, they accumulate fewer free radicals, improving their DNA and tissue. This also suggests that smaller Bernedoodles age slower than the larger breeds. You can purchase a miniature Bernedoodle at $3000 and $5000.

Tiny Bernedoodle

Tiny Bernedoodles are bred from a Bernese mountain dog and a Toy Poodle. They are the smallest Bernedoodle version, also known as Micro-mini Bernedoodle. Tiny Bernedoodles have a loveable personality. They love to play and be around their family. Many individuals prefer buying the tiny Bernedoodle because of its cuddling nature!

Similar to miniature Bernedoodles, tiny Bernedoodles also love to bark. Their tiny size prompts all the barking. A full-grown tiny Bernedoodle weighs 10 to 24 pounds and is 12 to 17 inches long. Sadly, this breed has the shortest life span, i.e., twelve to fifteen years, as their small size causes more health complications. You can buy a tiny Bernedoodle for $3000 and $6000.
