The Tiny Bernedoodle: The Ultimate Breed Guide

Close up of a Bernedoodle.

The Bernedoodle is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a long-term companion dog. The Bernese Mountain Poo, sometimes known as the Bernese Mountain Dog, is a cross between the Poodle and the Bernese Mountain Dog. To create these fluffy puppies, breeders mixed the smarts and low-shedding coats of the Poodle with the laid-back yet fiercely loyal temperament of the Bernese. The result? If you’ve ever had either of those dogs, you’ll understand why the Bernedoodle is such a unique dog breed!

Brief History

Originally developed in the early 2000s, Bernedoodles were inspired by the “doodle” fad that had spread over the world following the appearance of Labradoodle in the 1990s. However, some breeders began purposely crossing Bernedoodles with poodles, which may have resulted from an accidental breeding.

Characteristics

Bernedoodles are a tough breed to anticipate because of their mixed heritage. Some of the common characteristics of the breed are as follows.

1.Appearance

As you might imagine, the size of your Bernedoodle will be influenced by which variety of breed you choose to purchase. As previously noted, it’s tough to make an educated prediction of your Bernedoodle’s size and traits, but you can do so based on the size and appearance of their parents. Because these dogs are so adorable, so many people fall in love with them! Because of their fur, they’re frequently referred to as “the shaggy teddy bear” by others.

2.Coat

Bernedoodles can have a straight coat rather than their typical curly or wavy appearance. Because of their single coat, which they get from their Poodle parent, they shed very little, making them ideal for allergy sufferers. Despite the fact that they shed dander, they are still a suitable option for folks with allergies due to their coat’s ability to trap the dander.

3.Color

They can be found in a variety of hues. Tri-color (black/white/brown/black) is also included in the list of colors. In addition, they are capable of sporting a variety of markings. You can always tell a Bernedoodle by their slightly unkempt appearance!

4.Nature

Dogs of the Bernedoodle breed enjoy being around people and do well in a lively family environment. In addition to being compassionate with infants and toddlers, these people are also adept at playing with children of all ages. As a result of this, the Bernedoodle is prone to destructive activity when left alone. You can, of course, teach them otherwise, but if you plan on being away from home for long periods of time, you should not be considering a Bernedoodle for your family. As a result, this dog has a high level of energy and a great deal of desire to play.
